Curtin has forged strong ties with the local and wider community through a range of initiatives and programs. If you’re a community member or organisation, see how you can get involved with us.
Curtin AHEAD community engagement
Curtin AHEAD is a dynamic outreach program, fostering the potential of individuals and groups underrepresented in higher education. We engage with the community to build skills and raise aspirations towards higher education, conducting on- and off-campus activities for community groups in metropolitan and regional Western Australia, and coordinating educational programs for prison residents. Learn more about Curtin AHEAD.
If you’re a Curtin graduate, you’re part of a 230,000-strong community of talented and inspirational alumni worldwide. Curtin Radio is well known across Perth for its blend of classic hits and its engaging presenters. Behind the scenes, a team of volunteers keep the station running smoothly while our journalism students get hands-on training at a real radio station. Listen to Curtin Radio on 100.1FM or find out how you can get involved.
If you’re interested in health and fitness, join us at Curtin Stadium on the Bentley Campus in Perth. You can take part in social sport, join our gym, sign up for fitness classes or recreational experiences, get involved with a sports club, hire a court or field, get support through our health and rehabilitation programs, and hire our venues or grounds for big and small events. Find out more about Curtin Stadium.
Our student-driven volunteering hub, Curtin Volunteers!, helps the community through a variety of programs and events across Western Australia, especially in the areas of health, youth, environment, culture, communication, remote and Indigenous. Find out how you can recruit volunteers.
John Curtin Leadership Academy
The John Curtin Leadership Academy (JCLA) provides community organisations with students who can work on projects and help solve problems. Along the way, our students develop their teamwork, project management, planning and communication skills.
Projects may be done in close partnership with your organisation, or alternatively students may work more independently while still maintaining communication. Teams have a student mentor for support, and the JCLA Program Coordinator will stay in regular fortnightly contact with you.
We will open submissions for 2019 in January 2019.
Work-integrated learning programs
We partner with community organisations to provide our students with real-world learning opportunities, creating mutually beneficial outcomes for all. Learn how community and industry can get involved with our work-integrated learning.
